This past month has been a crazy one! Today this little boy turned one month.
Meet Leo!
We received a call in late March that a young lady had picked us to adopt her little boy. We were cautiously excited! The next 4 months we slowly bought the baby items we didn't already have and surprisingly the time flew by. His due date was August 3rd...but it came and went and time started to slow down....in fact we decided to redo our floors because we thought he was never going to come. On a beautiful Sunday morning, August 18, Leo was born! I was in church when the call came....and I missed it ...12 times (and plenty more text messages)! It was the one time I didn't have my phone in my lap and Ronnie was on assignment in Elizabeth City, NC. But we made it to the hospital and met the most perfect boy.
After almost 3 days in the hospital we came home. I only left the room once the whole time we were there and never slept! He had his nights and days mixed up that first week but he got it straightened out.
The adoption story is not complete. Our court date is on September 27. The process has been an emotional roller coaster for everyone involved but we are all motivated by the love we have for one little boy. We are so grateful for this opportunity to have Leo in our home and for our beautiful birth mother and her immense courage and strength.
Just in case you needed one more picture....
Here he is at one week.
Here is a little about Leo:
He weighed 8lbs 1 oz at birth.
He weighs 9lbs 14 oz at one month.
He loves to eat and burps very easily (and loudly)!
He is very strong and a wiggle worm.
He loves his bath time and the sound of running water.
He likes bumpy rides and to be swung in his car seat
(an actual swing isn't always good enough apparently!)
He smiles and I swear it's not (always) gas.
He likes to stare at the baskets on the wall.
He likes to be naked!
So how is Piper coping you may ask....
When we first brought him home she was trying to figure out what exactly he was but now she is concerned about him and wants to make sure he is okay when he cries. She always sneaks in a lick when she can.
Although, she is weary about everyone coming over to see him and not her :) She always needs a little extra love and attention. I can see them being best buds growing up.
That's all for now, there are a million more things to say and a million more pictures...but we'll save those for another day!
