California - Part 1 (of 2)

Summer Vacation 2014 - California

We first visited my brother and his wife.  While there we stopped by Hollywood, which was interesting...we saw the actress that plays in the movie "Tammy".  We saw the "stars", ate at Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood, and visited the Griffith Observatory.

The Hollywood sign is back there somewhere...

We spent time enjoying the coastline...

and the Tar Pits....

Had a Happy 4th of July playing at the beach where Leo dipped his toes in the Pacific and Ronnie got his first surfing lesson from Cory.

Then we headed off to Sequoia National Park. We stayed at a bed breakfast just outside the park. It was 103 degrees (although it didn't feel that hot to me...) there and below 70 degrees in the park. The sequoia's have been on our list of things to do for a long time so it was really neat to finally see them!

Here is General Sherman, the biggest tree on earth (by mass).

Next up Monterey and San Francisco.

11 Months

Leo is 11 Months!

  This month Leo....

  • Went to California and met his Uncle Cory and Aunt Chelsea (finally!)
  • Loves to play chase where he runs away from you (even plays this with Piper!)
  • Says more words or at least you can tell he is trying to...like duck, dog, vroom vroom, cow, Piper, etc.
  • Makes lots of different (funny and intense) faces...he's got quite the personality!
  • Already has little tantrums...
  • Is loud! He's got a lot to say!
  • Waves hi and bye more frequently again
  • Drinks from a straw
  • Went on his first real hike (mom carried him) up a mountain.
  • Points to helicopters, planes or birds as they fly by
  • Is apparently scared of cats....(I don't blame him!)

This month was really hard to get his monthly picture!
I feel like he is more and more like a toddler everyday and although he is growing fast, I'm always so excited to see what new things he is learning!
Love my boy!

Beachin' it

A beautiful day at the beach.

sand castles with dad.

Life is good.

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day!

We're grateful for those who have and are serving our country...
to celebrate...we went to Busch Gardens :)

Leo rode his first ride!! It was so cute.

He was so happy and healthy all day.

He had a fever the past 3 days.

On Friday, I put this cute boy in the bath and then down for a nap...perfectly healthy.

When I got him up from his nap he was like this....poor baby with a fever.

Even when sick, he still wants to be outside. And tried hard to be happy.

So glad he was healthy (and actually slept last night) so we could play hard today!
